5 Important Tips to Take Care of Your Jewelry

Keep away your jewelry from chemical

Your daily substances such as hair-spray, lotion, perfume or other cosmetics can contain chemicals that will be permanently damage or discolor precious metal - gold or silver and platinum. The jewellery also should be taken away before you dive into chlorinated swimming pool or before you start using household cleaner.

Store your jewelry seperately and safe

Jewellery should never simply tossed into the drawer or on top of a dresser to avoid scratches and damages of gems. When you bought your jewellery, mostly of them come with a box or pouch from store, which is a perfect place to keep them. You can buy jewellery boxes that feature individually padded slots for rings and posts for hanging necklaces or bracelets. Protection of your jewellery pieces from scratches or other damages by putting them in a seperate box or pouch are also necessary when travelling. 

Cleaning your jewelry with easiest method

Wash your colored-gem with warm water, mild dish soap (absolutely no detergent!) and a soft brush. If you worry loosing stones or even entire piece of jewelry during rinse them directly in the sink, you can rinse them in a glass of water to clean them. Best way to clean soft gems, such as pearls, which can be easily scratched, is using new, clean make-up brush and warm, soapy water to clean them and then lay them on a towel to dry.

Be careful with high temperature and light 

Some of gemstones, such as kunzite, topaz and amethyst, will fade if they expose to the light and high temperature over time, same as the damage to our skin. Excessive heat or sudden tempeature changes may also fracture some gems and remove the natural moisture of the gems to keep their beauty. 

Wear with care

Always put your jewelry on last when you're wearing clothes. Lotion and hairspray need to be applied first so they won't contaminate your jewelry. Removing your earrings to avoid caught on combs or brushes when your hair is being styled. This can avoid scratches or damages on your earrings too. Be extra careful to remove jewelry before doing any manual or handy work - includings hoursework - as it can be damaged by knocks or household cleaner. Shiny diamonds on your ring may will drop from it if you didn't remove them during manual work.
